High-pressure connector from Novoplast and Fleima-Plastic
The Masterflex Group will introduce the high-pressure connector at Compamed 2015.
In addition to this innovative new product, the Masterflex Group's two medical technology brands Novoplast Schlauchtechnik and Fleima-Plastic will be offering one-stop, high quality medical technology accessories at Stand M11 in Hall 8a. Come visit us from November 16-19, 2015 at the trade fair stand. Our team would be happy to provide you with more information.
The renowned scientific journal DeviceMed reported on the high pressure connector. Here is an excerpt of the article:
Milliseconds before the actual picture is taken, injectors sometimes "shoot" contrast media into the body of patients at extremely high pressure. As a result, the requirements for the tubes and connectors are extremely high.
Precise dosage of contrast medium
For these examination methods, it is extremely important that a dosage of the contrast medium be as precise as possible. These are "shot" into the body of the patient by means of an injector.
Producing tubing and connectors for this type of application requires an enormous amount of production and material competence. Novoplast Schlauchtechnik and Fleima-Plastic are among the providers that process the required high-performance medical plastics.
High to very high pressure resistance
One basic requirement for such tubes is a high to very high level of pressure resistance, since contrast media are injected quickly and often under high pressure. "Co-extruded high pressure tubing in a PUR/PA combination, tailored to the existing requirements, have prevailed in this area in recent years", explains Martin Oye, Sales Consultant for Medical Products at Novoplast Schlauchtechnik.
The two medical technology specialists of the Masterflex Group have developed a medical tube for the standard range of 1,200 psi. It has excellent flexibility as well as the required pressure resistance, without braiding.
Small, robust connectors
The matching connectors from Fleima-Plastic are small in stature, yet robust: despite their dimensions, they work reliably and meet high demands in terms of tightness, pressure changes, and the lowest possible dead volume.
The management of both Masterflex brands have many years of experience in the development and production of medical-technology products: Novoplast Schlauchtechnik is a specialist in the manufacture of extruded tubing and round belts with diameters ranging from 0.5 to 50 mm; Fleima-Plastic has developed high-quality parts and assemblies using the injection moulding process for many years. With in-house mould construction capabilities, they can produce their own precision injection moulding tools and make product changes quickly.
Given the similar requirements of their customers, the two medical technology brands in the Masterflex Group work closely with one another. "The cooperation in the fields of sales and project management allows us to develop target-oriented system solutions", says Martin Oye, who will be available at the Compamed trade fair stand for any interested visitors. "We see a lot of potential for the future here." With their own production facilities in Halberstadt and Wald-Michelbach, both brands ensure continuous product availability. They produce tubing in Class 7 and 8 clean rooms as per DIN EN ISO 14644-1, which guarantees particle-free, sterile production. Oye adds: "In addition to the technical requirements, intensive employee training and strict hygiene standards are a part of our production process. The goal is to offer outstanding medical technology accessories that meet the highest of demands.
